Making the ultimate açai bowl is super quick and easy!
They are the perfect guilt-free snack – dairy free, vegan, paleo, plantbased – tastes incredible, and full of healthy superfood goodness!
INGREDIENTS – what you need:
Serving size: makes 2 Bowls
For the base:
- 2 tbsp organic Açai Berry Powder
- 2-4 frozen bananas
- dash of dairy-free milk
- optional sweetener: a dash of maple syrup, or 1-2 tbsp of organic raw Yacón Root Powder for a low calorie, probiotic, sugar alternative ♥
Sprinkles & toppings (ideas):
- raw organic Chia seeds
- mixed nuts
- organic raw Cacao nibs
- mixed berries
- organic Goji berries
- desiccated coconut & flakes
- …whatever you like – decorate with any flavours you love! 🙂 …
Peel and chop your bananas into small pieces, about an inch. Try using 4 small bananas, 3 medium size, or 2 large.
Once chopped, transfer into a freezer bag or tub, and place in the freezer for about 2-3 hours, or leave to freeze overnight…
*VEO TIP* if you always keep some chopped frozen bananas ready in your freezer you can make Açai smoothie bowls anytime you like! 🙂
DIRECTIONS – how to make:
- Blend your frozen bananas, with 2 heaped tablespoons of Açai Berry powder
- Add a dash of plant milk to smooth the mixture
- Once blended, pour out evenly into 2 bowls
- Decorate with your favourite toppings!
What is Açai?
Açai – pronounced ah-sigh-ee – is a nutritional powerhouse. This small fruit is a superfood with incredible antioxidant properties, amino acids, fibre, essential fatty acids, vitamins and minerals. Açai berries are energising, packed with flavour, and provide so many health benefits for the body!
Açai has become hugely popular worldwide and has proven itself to be a sustainable non-timber forest product. A 2005 article published by Greenpeace stated that:
“the rapid regeneration [of the açai plant] make [it] a far preferable and sustainable alternative to large-scale logging”.
It’s also vital to ensure that the Açai we consume is the highest quality raw fruit, ethically harvested, and processed in facilities that retain its full nutritional properties. If Açai is not processed immediately it spoils, turning a dull brown colour, and loses much of its tasty zing and nutritional value.
