Amazing news- Sainsbury’s has launched a Deliciously Free-from cheese range, suitable for lactose intolerant or those with allergies, and vegans! These might definitely be worth a try if you have a local Sainsburys near you, and they launch in UK stores from today (28th Sept 2016).
There are 7 types of cheeses, suitable for those who opt for gluten free, people with milk allergies or intolerances, and vegans:
– Cheddar-style (block)
– Cheddar-style (grated)
– Cheddar-style with caramelised onion
– Wensleydale-style with cranberries
– Greek-style (a coconut milk-based alternative to Feta)
– Soft cheese-style (original)
– Soft cheese-style (garlic and herb)
Great news for our health, and saving all the baby cows!
EDIT: 5th October, due to a fantastic demand for the new cheeses I struggled to find a store that any left… but I found them in the Salford Sainsbury’s near me and grabbed 4 of the 7 types available – and made tortilla pizzas! They were awesome…
BENEFITS OF COCONUT MILK vs. DAIRY
Coconut milk with its creamy texture and slight natural sweetness is perfect for cheeses! It’s often considered a “miracle liquid” since coconut milk nutrition offers great ability to build up the body’s immune defences and prevent disease. Coconut milk, along with its relatives coconut oil and coconut water, are among the world’s healthiest foods, improving heart health by lowering blood pressure and cholesterol.
