This comes as Bayer AG, a German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical corporation, declares plans to merge with Monsanto. Mergers at this level are simply BAD news. But the good people at global consumer watchdog SumOfUs launched the campaign to stop the Monsanto license being extended. And it’s working!
Who are Monsanto? They are a chemicals, pesticides and GMO agriculture company with popular products, such as weed-killer “Roundup”, which has been proven to “cause cancer”:
This is the third time member states have rejected the EU Commission’s bid for a new licence for glyphosate. Governments are responding to our mass mobilisation of citizens fed up with the widespread use of a pesticide that the World Health Organization deems “probably carcinogenic.”
