Over the past 10 years Veganism has increased 360% in Britain, to over half a million people who who don’t wear, eat or use animals- with the number of vegetarian, ‘flexitarians’ and those taking steps to reduce their meat consumption being in the millions. The rise of a more compassionate, cruelty-free and healthy lifestyle is clear, and the growing environmental and climate change concerns within the global community are unmistakable.
These changes are also making huge impacts on the global food market, with plantbased meat companies going from strength to strength, and over in the US companies like Impossible Foods and Beyond Meat being backed by the likes of Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and Twitter founder Biz Stone among others to the tune of hundreds of millions- including a reported bid by Google to purchase the Impossible Foods after seeing their 100% plantbased burger that looks, tastes, and even ‘bleeds‘ like meat.
2016 has also seen some tremendous announcements from Medical and Nutritional studies, that have continued to show how a plantbased is phenomenally good for our health, and an excellent way to get all our protein, and vital nutrients like Iron, Zinc, and B12- all abundantly available on a vegan diet. Some of the world’s leading sports stars and athletes all claim plantbased as a reason for their success, including boxer David Haye, world record weightlifter Patrik Baboumian, tennis champions Venus and Serena Williams, Novak Djokavic, UFC fighters Nick & Nate Diaz, and Mr Universe 2014 bodybuilder Barny du Plessis.

Of all the reasons to go vegan, it’s safe to say that compassion for our little friends is leading the way. We know there is no difference between our little kitties and puppies, to piggies, calfs and chicks- they’re all amazingly cute and clever, with the ability to love and be loved.
With all the incredible foods and recipes now available from supermarkets and the High street, there really has never been a better time to choose vegan. From chains like Zizzi, Handmade Burger Co, Pizza Express, Las Iguanas, and, YO! Sushi all offering extensive plantbased options, to the free-from aisles and veggie freezer sections in supermarkets – so many options now make it easier than ever to recreate all your favourite meals, or make up some new ones to love!
