Kombucha originates in China, where it was traditionally made by fermenting tea with sugar to create a naturally effervescent and refreshing beverage. Our Kombucha beverages are naturally cultured and fermented using organic green tea and organic cane sugar, a crucial nutrient for the growing bacteria to survive and multiply. During the process of fermentation, the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast (SCOBY), consume the sugar, and in the process produce wonderful strains of beneficial bacteria. The final product will only contain a small amount of the original sugar, as most of it will have been consumed by the bacteria and yeast.
This technique is a time-honoured method of preparation, resulting in a drink packed full of vitamins, enzymes and probiotics, prized by cultures throughout the world, who value its ability to promote good health and wellbeing.
As another lovely side benefit, the process makes the drink nice and fizzy – completely naturally and without the use of cabon dioxide or any chemicals or additives. Additionally, all of the water used in our drinks is double filtered using both active ceramic and granular activated carbon to remove impurities and for a great taste.
These are a fantastic, tasty, clean alternative to commercially available sodas, as Loving Foods Kombucha are both low in sugar and high in beneficial nutrients.
