We are a Manchester based Vegan Mexican Pop up catering company specialising in Street Tacos and Multi-bean Chilli bowls.
Our fresh salsas and hot sauces have quickly acquired a cult following. What was initially intended as a selection of condiments purely for use in our kitchens has morphed into a large range of salsas, hot sauces and salts.
We started out making all our own salsas and hot sauces from scratch, because we wanted to know exactly what was in them. However, this soon led to a near obsession with creating small batch hot chilli sauces! (even if it means playing around with the World’s Hottest Chilli family- and needing a gas mask for our ‘Breaking Bad’ style batch cooking! )
Our most popular sauce by a mile, is the Scotch Bonnet! Followed by Arbol and Guajillo. Our range has now reached double figures, and whilst we can’t tell our secrets for making them, we can say that there is a lot of pan roasting, blending and eye-watering spice involved!
Sauces come in 100ml, 150ml and 200ml. But be warned, we were once tracked down by a fan who found us at a makers market, who’d bought 3 bottles, but had to find us to buy another 5 bottles a week later…they’re definitely moorish, and might not last as long as you think!
All our food is 100% vegan and we have many gluten free options. We are very allergen aware and only a few of our recipes contain any of the 14 allergens on the regulatory list in the UK/EU.
We use organic ingredients when possible and also some specialist ingredients which we import from Mexico. Examples of these are the herbs Epazote and Mexican Oregano. These help to achieve the authentic street food that we are regularly complemented on.
I’m Kelly, owner of Los Antojitos, and I have been known on occasion to try our salsas with a straw straight from the bottle!
At the pop up restaurant our hand pressed white and blue 4″ corn tortillas from Masa Harina are pan roasted until they puff up to show that they are ready to be loaded with traditional Mexican recipes. These include BBQ Sweet Potato and Red Cabbage slaw, Seitan de Barbecoa Estilo Yucatan and Refried Pinto beans.
The Vegan Mexican Kitchen and Shop in Manchester has proven to be an instant hit with hungry Mancs!
